Science

At Bilsthorpe we believe in child centred learning and seek to teach Science in a fun and stimulating way. We believe that providing a motivating science curriculum will help to develop children’s excitement, curiosity and understanding about the world around them.

We endeavour to help children develop their understanding of scientific ideas by using different types of scientific enquiry to answer their own questions.

Children in Year 1 to Year 6 follow the National Curriculum for Science.

Aims

Our science curriculum aims for pupils to:

  • develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
  • develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them.
  • gain the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
  • aspire to leave Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy thinking and problem-solving like scientists.
