Foundation 1 - 15 & 30hr provision for 3/4yr olds

At BFHA we call our Nursery 'Foundation 1' in preparation for children moving to Foundation 2 (Reception Class) when they start full time school. We are currently staffed to have a 26 children in F1, running morning and afternoon sessions on a daily basis.  Places are offered according to the same criteria as the primary school admissions BFHA Admission Arrangements Policy 2022/2023 with priority given to children with siblings in school, then who live in the catchment area, with any extra spaces on a 'first come - first served' basis.

If you are interested in a place at Bilsthorpe Flying High Foundation 1 then please phone us on 01623 870772 for more information or to arrange to come for a visit.

It is important to note that whilst the school controls applications for Nursery, the Local Authority arranges applications for main school. Attendance at Nursery is completely separate and does not guarantee an offer of a place in full time education in main school

Foundation 1 (3-4yr olds)

Children can start our Foundation 1 (F1) class the term after their 3rd birthday. All 3-year-old children are entitled to 15 funded hours a week during term time and this starts the term after a child’s 3rd birthday and applies until they reach compulsory school age. For most working parents, the 15 hours funding is extended to 30 hours meaning that their child is entitled to stay with us for 6 hours a day totalling 30 hours a week. More information on 15 and 30 hours funding can be found here: https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/care/early-years-and-childcare/help-with-childcare/15-hours-funded-childcare-for-three-four-year-olds and here: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

F1 15 Funded Hours—If your child is attending our F1 class for 15 hours a week, they will be in school daily from Monday to Friday during term time, allocated to either a morning or afternoon session. Morning sessions run from 8.45am to 11.45am and afternoon sessions run from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

F1 30 Funded Hours—If you would like your child to attend our F1 class all day, you can apply for a 30-hour code online at www.gov.uk/apply-30-hours-free-childcare . The 30 hours code is for 6 hours a day (x2 3-hour sessions), but this does not include the lunchtime period. All 30-hour children are charged a daily Lunch Club fee of £2.50 which pays for lunchtime supervision between the 2 funded sessions. 30-hour codes are only valid for set periods of time before you will have to re-confirm your details in your Government Childcare account to maintain eligibility. Once you have received your 30-hour code, you must let the school office know so that they can confirm validity prior to your child starting in F1. Your log in details for ParentPay will be emailed to you on your child's first day. Charges are added daily and we ask that money is in the account prior to charges being added.

F1 Paid Sessions – If your child is only entitled to 15 hours, but you would like to pay for extra sessions, subject to places being available, you can pay a daily charge of £17.50 which includes the Lunch Club lunchtime supervision and a 3-hour session charge.
