In English this week, we started a new Talk for Writing genre; Adventure Stories. As well as learning our new text, we also leanrt how to correctly use speech marks. On Friday we went onto our school field to draw the trees and to collect impressive descriptive language. We will use these words when writing our own stories next week.

In our final week before half term, we really enjoyed welcoming Grandparents in for our reading afternoon on Friday. We also had a great time dressing up in our scary outfits.

Everyone has been really impressed with the fanastic homework that the children have been bringing into school. The photos below show some of the work we have completed. Other pieces of our work can be seen on display on the school office.
Following visit to the local church, we designed our own church stained glass windows. our designs are displayed on the classroom windows.

This afternoon we welcomed parents in for our open afternoon. We designed our own Roman coins and carried out research for our Big Question.
23.09.16 Homework Celebration
It was great to see all the hard work the children have been doing at home. Homework projects are on display at the front of our classroom. The photos below show Viking boats made by the children.
21.09.16 Maths
This week we have been continuing to learn about place value. As well as looking at the value of each digit, we have been counting forwards and backwards including passing through zero. The photos below show us playing a game to make us more confident with negative numbers.
13.09.16 Music Lesson
We had our first drumming lesson today. We had great fun and made lots of noise!
09.09.16 - The Magic Finger
Inspired by Roald Dahl's book, The Magic Finger, we set out into the middle garden to build our own bird nests. We worked as a group to collect materials and construct the nests.
8.9.16 - Homework and holiday.
Today we shared our holiday news and homework. We enjoyed sharing our holiday adventures. The exciting homework projects and photographs are on display at the front of our classroom.
