Every day is full of fun and learning in F1. Our classroom is based on the curiosity approach, this means we use open ended resources to allow the children to explore the classroom in their own way. Curiosity is an innate drive within young children and through our purposeful, thoughtful environment we can inspire children to be inquisitive and creative thinkers.

Please check out our class blog on purple mash which is being updated daily with phonics and maths lesson activities.

Weekly Learning Grids!

Hello everyone, Miss Fecak here and welcome back to summer term!

As we can't be at school at the moment it's important we still carry on with our learning at home. For the summer term we will now be using a weekly learning grid which you will find attached below and on the class blog. We hope provides a little more flexibility as to when you complete the tasks at a time that suits you all. The grid  will provide you with ideas and activities that you can implement at home to support your child. Each of these areas of learning are taken from our EYFS profile. These are covered consistently whilst your child is in school therefore, we ask that you continue to expose your child to a variety of learning opportunities at home. Enjoy playing and learning alongside your child, play is a vital part of our day so it’s important we still have chance to learn through play and exploration. If your child shows an interest in alternative learning that is great! It is always best to follow their lead and build upon their interests. So please do not feel restricted to the ideas suggested on here. I will also be uploading daily phonics lessons to youtube, so please check the class blog daily to find a link to the lesson. Below you will also find an adult input sheet which will provide guidance about the lessons. If you have any questions please drop me an email.

Don't forget you all have access to Mini Mash on the purple mash website, please log in and access the wide range of games and activities you have.

I am able to set tasks and pins so please look out for those too!

If you have any questions at all, please email me kfecak@bilsthorpefha.org

Maths!

Week Commencing 30th March 2020

This week in maths we are learning to:

''Separate a group of three or four objects in different ways, begin to recognise that the total is still the same'

You can do this at home by...

  • Play a number game while you have a snack. Count out four small items of food, such as strawberries, and place them on to a plate. Then, give some of the strawberries to a grown-up to put on their plate. How many strawberries do you have? How many does your grown-up have? How many altogether?
  • Have a building challenge using four building bricks. Use your building bricks to build a model. Can you make a different model using the same number of bricks?
  • Play a hide and seek game using three soft toys. Close your eyes and ask a grown-up to hide the toys around the room. Open your eyes and find the toys. How many are there altogether? Then, you can hide the toys for your grown-up to find. Can they find them all?
  • Use two empty cardboard boxes as pretend buses. Collect four small toys to ride on the buses. How many toys are on each bus? How many toys altogether?
  • Ask a grown-up to find three of the same coin, such as three 10p coins. Turn the coins so that you can see the Queen’s face on each one. How many coins do you have? Now, turn some of the coins over. How many are showing the Queen? How many are up the other way? How many altogether?
  •

Week Commencing 23rd March 2020

This week in maths we are learning to:

'Represent numbers'

You can do this at home by...

  • Using a paintbrush and a bucket of water, can you paint some watery numbers on a fence or pathway? You might like to make your numbers with lines, dots or pictures. Can a grown-up tell you which numbers you have made?
  • How old are you? Draw yourself a yummy birthday cake. Can you draw the right number of candles on the top of the cake? Try to draw the same number of balloons above the cake and the same number of presents next to your cake.
  • Sing a number song that you know, such as ‘5 Little Monkeys’. Can you use your fingers to count the characters in the song?
  •  Collect items to represent a number, you can do this like the picture below!
