  • Y1 Visit the book fair

    Year 1 had a wonderful visit to the Book Fair! 📚✨

    The children enjoyed spending time browsing through a range of books, exploring different stories and choosing some favourites to add to their wish lists. It was lovely to see their excitement as they discovered new titles and authors they might like!

  • Y5 - Rainforest in a shoebox

    Year 5 have been busy bringing their learning to life! 🌿🌎

    The children have demonstrated their understanding of the layers of a rainforest by creating their very own rainforests in a shoebox. From the emergent layer down to the forest floor, they carefully thought about where each plant and animal belongs.

    We are so proud of the effort and knowledge they have shown. Well done, Year 5! 👏

  • Y6 PE - Beep Test

    I’m sure some of you have already heard about Y6's PE lesson last week… they did the beep test! 🏃‍♂️💪

    At the start of the lesson, they talked about resilience not giving up when things get tough — and wow, did they rise to the challenge!

    There were lots of red faces, but so much determination, resilience and encouragement for one another. It was fantastic to see everyone digging deep and giving it their absolute best. 🌟

    A special well done to Jake and Carly, who both reached — and completed — the final level! What an incredible achievement! 👏🎉

    To celebrate World Book Day (UK & Ireland) the children are welcome to come into school either dressed as their favourite book character, in their comfy pyjamas or in their uniform if they prefer on Thursday 5th March 2026.

  • Nursery Maths

    In Nursery, the children have been exploring size by sorting photographs and objects into big and small groups! 🧸📸

    They had lots of fun comparing different items, talking about what they noticed, and explaining how they knew which group each object belonged to. This hands-on activity is a wonderful way to develop early maths skills, language, and critical thinking.

  • Celebrating Oakley Y5 Pupil

    We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our fantastic Year 5 pupils, who is showing exceptional dedication and talent beyond the classroom!

    Oakley plays for Mansfield Town Academy and attends training sessions multiple times a week as well as playing matches, demonstrating commitment, resilience and a real passion for football. He manages to balance all of this with his school work (his coaches check how he is getting on at school too).

  • We need your help! EYFS Outdoor Environment

    🌿 Can You Help Us Transform Our Early Years Outdoor Area? 🌿

    We’re looking to further develop our Early Years outdoor environment and would really appreciate your support. Outdoor learning plays a vital role in children’s development, encouraging creativity, physical skills, communication and curiosity.

    We are currently looking for donations of:

    🔹 Piping or tubing (for water and construction play)

    🔹 Wooden easels

    🔹 Tyres (clean and safe - various sizes)

    🔹 Bean bags (preferably outdoor suitable)

    🔹 Wooden pallets

    🔹 Orchard style games

    🔹 Buckets, jugs, watering cans and funnels

    🔹 Crates or boxes for den building

    🔹 Logs, tree slices or wooden blocks

    🔹 Old pots, pans and utensils for mud kitchen play

    🔹 Chalk and chalkboards

    🔹 Small world items (figures, animals, vehicles)

    🔹 Outdoor cushions

    🔹 Balance planks or stepping stones

    If you have any of these items available, or know someone who may, we would be extremely grateful. All donations help us create exciting, hands-on outdoor learning experiences for our children to explore, build, investigate and imagine.

    We’re delighted to share that we will be setting up a Parent–Teacher Association (PTA) — and we would love for parents and carers to get involved! 🎉

    The PTA’s aim is simple: to support the school, raise funds for resources and experiences that benefit our children, and bring families together. From film nights 🎬 and bake sales 🧁 to fun community events 🎈, the PTA will help us build a strong, connected school community.

    You don’t need lots of time or any special skills — all help is welcome, and we’d love to meet you and hear your ideas!

    Whether you can spare a few minutes, lend a hand at an event, share suggestions, or simply stay in the loop, it all makes a difference ❤️

  • F2 - Features of Bilsthorpe

    Last week our fantastic F2 children got creative and produced some beautiful drawings of features of Bilsthorpe using a huge roll of wallpaper 🎨🖍️

    They worked together brilliantly, sharing ideas and talking about the places they recognise in our local area. We loved seeing their creativity and teamwork shine through!

    We received a letter from the Secretary of State for Education celebrating the amazing outcomes achieved by our disadvantaged pupils in the 2024/2025 academic year!
