Year 6 started their "Why leave a legacy?" hook today. We discussed what a legacy was who may leave a legacy. We had a lovely discussion about the legacy that Mrs Butt has left and why it is important to talk about that. We then thought about a legacy that we would like to leave in conjunction with learning about street art and combined the two to create our own graffiti legacy wall.
F2 had a great morning hot seating the characters from the story 'Little Red Riding Hood'. They came up with a bank of questions to ask and got into role.
Last week we had a visit from Hope Gordon (Paralympian Athlete). She showed the children her silver medal and completed a range of exercises with each year group. The children asked some great questions during the Q&A. A huge thank you to all the children that raised money and collected sponsorships towards this experience. Your hard work and generosity is noticed.
Thank you to everyone who attended our swap shop earlier this week! We raised a total of £22.50 which has been donated to The Brain Tumour Charity.
WOW! Have a look at some of the bonnets and decorated hard-boiled eggs that have been bought into school ahead of our Easter assembly.
Take a look at our yummy prizes for our Easter Raffle! Tickets are still on sale for £1 a strip. The 'name the bunny' competition is still running also at 50p a go. Tickets will be drawn on Thursday.
Thank you to all the families that attended our family breakfast last Friday and this morning! It is great having you in school and celebrating all the special people in our children's lives.
We are loving having Artist Jane in school! Year 1 have learnt so much about printing and the appropriate tools we need to use.
Happy Mothers Day to all the important women in our children's lives.
On 24th April, the school will receive a visit from aspiring and successful Paralympian athlete Hope Gordon.
Hope will talk to the children about what it is like to be an athlete, her journey into competitive sports and then deliver a PE lesson. The children from F2 – Year 6 will be allocated slots throughout the day to take part in an athletics themed fitness circuit.
To give school the funds to better sporting education for everyone, we are inviting children to raise money. To donate, use the link below or the sponsorship form provided which have already been issued. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/the-bilsthorpe-flying-high-academy-fundraiser/backers#start
When you have gathered all the sponsorships for your child please bring the money and form to the office by the 4th April.
It is important that we log the sponsorships and ensure the children receive the appropriate reward/recognition for their hard work and generosity.
Today we raised money for 'Red Nose Day'. The children had a blast around the party theme of the day!
