Attendance Matters!

📢 Attendance 📢

⭐ If your child is absent from school, please contact the OFFICE via telephone, leave a voice message on the absence line, or via Class Dojo before 9.30am on the day of absence. Class teachers are not always able to check messages so please ensure the message is sent to office.

⭐ Please make contact with the school office before 9.30am each day your child is absent and give the reason for the absent (e.g My child, X is absent due to a sore throat and headache").

⭐ If your child is not at school, and we have been unable to make contact with you to obtain a reason for this absence, where possible we will complete a home well being visit, as part of our safeguarding and attendance procedures.

⭐ If your child's absence drops below 90%, this is considered "Persistent Absence" and you will receive communication to highlight this via a letter. If attendance does not improve, you will then be asked to come into school to meet and an attendance plan will be created to support your child's attendance.

⭐ If you are planning for your child(ren) to be absent from school, for example due to a holiday, you need to complete a "leave of absence" form from the school office, at least 2 weeks in advance. Please note that these absences will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances agreed by Mr Reynolds, and if the absence is 5 days or more your may receive a Penalty Notice Fine from the Local Authority.

⭐ The school day begins at 8.45. Children are expected to be on the playground ready to line up at this time. Lateness is monitored and can contribute towards persistent absence. You will receive communication should your child constantly arrive late to school and may be invited in to school discuss this further.

If you are concerned about your child's attendance then please contact school - we are here to support and advise but can only put support into place if we have these conversations.

Best wishes,

The School Office Team
