As part of Childrens Mental Health Week year 6, they designed their own personality islands and took part in a virtual webinar with the theme 'Know yourself, grow yourself'. They learnt that learning about the world can help them and that by talking about things, taking part in hobbies and relaxing are all good strategies to support our mental health.
This afternoon, F2 have created their very own Chinese New Year dragon. They used this to dance around school celebrating this special tradition.
This week in F1's enquiry learning, the children are learning all about how to look after their environment. This morning, the children were extremely helpful and did some litter picking in our foundation stage garden. Well done F1 for keeping our environment clean and tidy.
This morning, F2 went out on foot to spot all the different features of Bilsthorpe that they had been learning about. They started off at Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy, then headed towards The Copper Beech and the church. They finished their walk by visiting the barbers, Tesco and the library. Great work F2.
Tonight our staff meeting was led by an artist. We learnt all about the different printing techniques and looked at ways in which we could incorporate this into our art planning for our children.
A big shout out!!! Parents are our partners in education and we value you all greatly.
Last week year 4 used atlases to find rivers in the UK and have created their very own watercolours of rivers. They used a wash of colour and started to add more detail.
Year 6 have been working really hard in gymnastics this half term and have made excellent progress!
This afternoon, F2 did a marvellous job at litter picking around school. They have been learning about different ways to look after our environment, so they thought this would be a good way to kick-start the week!
Last week year 3 rearranged the tables to help them create Stone Age cave paintings. Later this term, this will be their history unit. The artwork helped them to get into the character Matthew from the book The Stone Age Boy. Next week, they will be writing a diary entry in the role of Matthew.
Year 6 have started the 'Dreams & Goals' puzzle in Jigsaw (PSHE). They set themselves a goal to achieve at school and at home, then considered the steps they needed to take to achieve these.
