Year 6 played the role of palaeontologists on a dig in their science lesson. As their teacher read a script, they 'unearthed' some fossil bones and attempted to reconstruct the animal that the fossils represented.
Year 4 have mummified a tomato following instructions and adding adverbs to the instructions to create more detail.
Swap Shop Ready! We had SO many lovely items of clothing available today. We look forward to seeing more people and families next time!
We would like to inform you about the 'SWAP SHOP' we are introducing at Bilsthorpe. If you would like to get rid of any old or unwanted school uniform then this is for you. The idea is that people can bring things they no longer want and can swap it with items that we have available on the rails at school. We are starting this on Monday 3rd March and it will run every first Monday of the month. If you don't wish to bring clothes but would like to take some items then a donation would be appreciated as this will go towards The Brain Tumour Charity. This is a charity that the children have chosen and a charity that is close to our hearts at Bilsthorpe.
The SWAP SHOP is going to be situated on the playground at 3:20-3:45pm. We look forward to seeing you there!!
Many thanks,
The Children's Parliament :)
It was Year 1's turn to take part in the art workshop run by Artist Jane. The children had a great time learning different ways to print.
The children who received the reading reward for Spring 1 enjoyed a strawberry milkshake, lots of biscuits and took part in a treasure hunt with the adults in school.
Year 2 had an art workshop delivered by Artist Jane. They had a great time practicing some drawing, then using polystyrene prints and ink to do some printmaking. We focused on wildflowers and plants to create some beautiful prints.
Before half term, we celebrated the 6-week Family Thrive Course. We would like to thank the parents and carers who attended and participated. Feedback from participants include:
"Good for having more knowledge about emotions"
"The course provided me with skills and knowledge to support my own and my children's behaviours and emotions".
If you are interested in attending the next Family Thrive Course, please get in touch. We will advertise when we have the next dates available.
Year 5 have started a new English unit. They are working towards writing a persuasive letter about changes that could be made to Bilsthorpe to make it a more environmentally friendly place. They worked in groups to brainstorm ideas for environmental issues we have noticed in our local area.
On Thursday 6th March, it is World Book Day. This year's theme is 'Reading Your Way'. We would like to invite children to come to school dressed either as their favourite book character, or in comfy/cosy clothes. At 2.45pm, we would love for you to join us for a Mad Hatter's Tea Party and share some books and sweet treats with your child. Please ensure you book and pay on ParentPay by Thursday 27th February.
A reminder that tomorrow is an INSET day. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday.
