What an amazing day we’ve had in school today, finishing off with a magnificent Easter bonnet parade. The creativity on display was incredible – from the fantastic bonnets to the beautifully decorated hard-boiled eggs!

A big thank you to all the parents who came along to watch the parade in action – it made the day even more special.

A reminder for children to bring in their hard-boiled, decorated eggs and Easter bonnets ready for our Easter Assembly tomorrow!

We’re hoping the sun stays out and the rain stays away so we can parade in style around the playground from 2:30pm. Parents are very welcome to attend at this time and cheer on the children.

The eggs and bonnets will be judged throughout the day, with winners announced during the assembly. If the rain makes an appearance, don’t worry—we will celebrate indoors in the hall instead!

We can’t wait to see all the wonderful creations!

Breakfast Club runs every day during term time from 7.45am.

Breakfast is served from 7.45am until 8.30am.

A registration form must be completed for all children prior to attending.

You must book your child’s place by either email to breakfastclub@bilsthorpefha.org, Class Dojo message to the Office account or via Booking Slips available at the School Office.

Booking must be done by 3.00pm on the day prior to stopping.

The cost to attend Breakfast Club is £4.00 per child per day.

For children eligible for Income Based Free School Meals, the cost is £2.00 per child per day.

Payment must be made prior to your child stopping for Breakfast Club, so please make sure that your ParentPay account is in credit.

Non or late payment will jeopardise your child’s place at the club and a late payment fee may be charged.

Today we put this question to the test during our investigation! The children explored their scientific thinking by making predictions, carrying out the experiment, and observing what happened when the toast fell.

Spaces fill quickly, so book early to avoid missing out!

Thanks to the wet weather over the past couple of weeks, there was plenty of mud — perfect for getting creative and making fantastic mud faces! The children loved exploring the natural environment, using sticks, leaves and other treasures they found to bring their muddy masterpieces to life.

Lots of smiles, messy hands and wonderful imagination all around!

The children enjoyed spending time browsing through a range of books, exploring different stories and choosing some favourites to add to their wish lists. It was lovely to see their excitement as they discovered new titles and authors they might like!

The Book Fair is open after school until Tuesday 3rd March 2026 — don’t forget to pop in and spend your book token!

The children have demonstrated their understanding of the layers of a rainforest by creating their very own rainforests in a shoebox. From the emergent layer down to the forest floor, they carefully thought about where each plant and animal belongs.

We are so proud of the effort and knowledge they have shown. Well done, Year 5!

At the start of the lesson, they talked about resilience not giving up when things get tough — and wow, did they rise to the challenge!

There were lots of red faces, but so much determination, resilience and encouragement for one another. It was fantastic to see everyone digging deep and giving it their absolute best.

A special well done to Jake and Carly, who both reached — and completed — the final level! What an incredible achievement!

Please encourage your child/children to bring in their favourite book to share with their friends on this day

They had lots of fun comparing different items, talking about what they noticed, and explaining how they knew which group each object belonged to. This hands-on activity is a wonderful way to develop early maths skills, language, and critical thinking.

We’re so proud of how confidently they shared their ideas and worked together!

Oakley plays for Mansfield Town Academy and attends training sessions multiple times a week as well as playing matches, demonstrating commitment, resilience and a real passion for football. He manages to balance all of this with his school work (his coaches check how he is getting on at school too).

We’re looking to further develop our Early Years outdoor environment and would really appreciate your support. Outdoor learning plays a vital role in children’s development, encouraging creativity, physical skills, communication and curiosity.

We are currently looking for donations of:

Piping or tubing (for water and construction play)

Wooden easels

Tyres (clean and safe - various sizes)

Bean bags (preferably outdoor suitable)

Wooden pallets

Orchard style games

Buckets, jugs, watering cans and funnels

Crates or boxes for den building

Logs, tree slices or wooden blocks

Old pots, pans and utensils for mud kitchen play

Chalk and chalkboards

Small world items (figures, animals, vehicles)

Outdoor cushions

Balance planks or stepping stones

If you have any of these items available, or know someone who may, we would be extremely grateful. All donations help us create exciting, hands-on outdoor learning experiences for our children to explore, build, investigate and imagine.

Thank you to all our pupils, staff members, families and supporters - everything we do is to help our children thrive and flourish TEAM BFHA!

Following on from their learning about Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution, the children took part in an exciting experiment. They investigated which type of ‘beak’ was best suited to each island, testing ideas and making predictions along the way. Fantastic teamwork, curiosity and scientific thinking on display!

As the weather has dropped colder please ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately for outdoor activities. We kindly ask that children bring warm coats, hats, gloves and scarves each day to help them stay comfortable and safe during the cold weather.
