Year 3
Through our enquiry questions we learn about the world around us and our place within that world. We are creative learners who enjoy making links between different subjects. We are confident learners who aren't afraid to take risks. We are a friendly bunch and enjoy welcoming visitors into our classroom. Take a look at our termly newsletters to find out what is happening in Year 3.
Our class teacher is Miss Rose and Mrs Matheson
In Year 3 we are inquisitive and enthusiastic learners, as we are always wanting to find and more.
At the start of the year, our first enquiry question was, Would I Thrive in the Stone Age? To help us investigate this question, we learnt about how Stone Age people hunted, gathered, made their own clothes and told their stories through cave paintings.
In the Spring term, our question is, What makes an area a good place to live? We will be learning about the countries that make up Europe and this will link back to our Autumn term work where we learnt about the Ancient Greeks. We will also be learning about how volcanoes are formed and the causes of earthquakes.
We are also passionate about our English and maths, always striving to be the best we can be. We are focussing on our timetables this year to help us prepare for future years of maths learning and helping us recall timetables and division facts.
Above all, we are keen, confident and creative learners.
Polite reminders and key information
Timings of day
8:45 - Line up in playground ready to learn and enter school with Year 3 adult
3:20 - Leave school via the bottom door onto the playground
Reading books and diaries
Please make sure reading books and diaries are in school every day.
Labelling:
All items brought into school should be labelled with the child's name (including bags and coats). Children are responsible for their garments and equipment. Having names on clothing makes it much easier for us to return these to the right person.
PE - Tuesday and Thursday:
Children need to ensure that they have the correct PE kit on this day. The school PE kit is a plain white t-shirt, blue/black shorts or jogging bottoms and plimsolls or trainers. No earrings or jewellery are allowed to be worn during PE lessons. Ideally, a labelled PE kit will come to school on the first day of each half term, and stay on the child's peg until the end of the half term.
Medication:
If your child has any medical conditions which require medication, e.g. inhalers. Please could we ask you to go to the school office to fill in a medication form first, and then we can keep the medication in school and first aid trained staff will be able to administer it when applicable.
Contact Details:
Please keep the school office updated with all your current contact details, so that we can contact you directly and keep you updated with all school matters.
